thari — noun. The loom; the instrument at the centre of every weaving household.

The Name

In Tamil, the word Thari (தறி) means “loom”—the timeless instrument that transforms yarn into fabric, skill into craft, and tradition into something tangible.

For us, the loom is more than a tool. It is a place where stories are woven, where generations of knowledge are carried forward through the rhythm of the artisan’s hands.

Inspired by this spirit, THARI is a design studio dedicated to hand-crafted and handwoven textiles. We work with handloom fabrics, hand block prints, hand embroidery, natural textiles, and traditional craft techniques, creating contemporary products that honour the integrity of the making process.

Every creation reflects our belief that true craftsmanship lies in the human hand—where patience, skill, and thoughtful design come together to create objects of lasting value.
